As some of us or our family members or friends or relatives are planning to perform Hajj, I thought of making a check list of things that we or they might need. I remember when I decided to perform Hajj many of my mom’s friends came over to guide me and advice me. And Alhamdulilah for all the advice which made the beautiful journey even more easy.
The following is a list of things that I compiled with the help of my friends and family.
The suitcase
· Organizers to keep medicines, undergarments, toiletries etc
· Passport and copies of legal documents
· 3-4 Ihram
· Disposable clothing
· Cotton clothing
· 3-4 comfortable cotton scarves
· Sheet
· Non-scented soaps
· Non-scented shampoo
· Non-scented moisturizer
· Shoes (light weight)
· Bathroom slippers
· Toiletries
· Socks
· Small scissor
· Umbrella
· Labels ( for your luggage)
· Small packs of detergent ( you will be washing your clothes, if they are not disposable)
· Dry snacks ( biscuits, dry fruits, snack bars)
· Pocket prayer mat
· Prayer beads
· Waist pouch
· Sling bag to carry holy books
· Wet wipes
· Thread and needles
· Chargers
· Save your camp or hotels name on your phone
· Download Quran, in case you are tired of reading, you can listen to it
MEDICINES
· Painkiller
· Cough syrup
· Anti-allergy
· Crack cream for heels
· Glucose
· Anti – itch/ rash cream
· Fevadol
· Pain relief gel
· Bandages
· Vaseline (inner thighs tend to get rubbed)
· Vitamins
ARAFAT DAY/ MUZDALIFA NIGHT
This day would require you to gather all your physical strength. Though the Saudi Government has arranged for trains, it may take a good 2-3 hours to get on the train.
· A small bag pack
· Small bottle of water or electrolyte
· Dates or some energy bars
· Pocket prayer mat
· Holy books
· Pain killer
· Anti-allergy
· Sheet
· Waist pouch
· Glucose
It’s always better to start walking and exercising at least a month before. Also do remember take vitamins along with an extremely healthy diet.
Humility and patience will do wonders. Do remember this journey is about forgiveness, people will be impatient, they will push you, they will be rude, but don’t let that get to you.
