BB creams are short for blemish balm or blemish base.BB creams were launched in the U.S in 2011 and are in great demand worldwide. Almost all companies from drugstore brands to high end department stores have launched their products. Although BB creams are very effective; they do have their pros and cons.
My experience with BB has been limited to perhaps 4 or 5 brands. The best drugstore BB cream has been Maybelline. The product consists of 2% salicylic acid. Why is that important you may ask? Here is why, salicylic acid is derived from the bark of a willow tree, it has both cosmetic and medicinal benefits. Salicylic acid acts as an exfoliating agent, good for the treatment of blemishes and helps to get rid of acne.
This BB cream is my go to thing; an absolute must have and should have. The packaging is good, thou if it were in a bottle rather than a tube it would have been more convenient to use. The product generally flows into the cap.
The BB cream promises to conceal imperfections, hydrates and smoothes, minimizes look of pores (my issue) and reduces appearance of redness and it certainly does live up to the promise. The product is a little too watery and doesn’t moisturize well so here is what I do, I moisturize first and then again mix it with a little moisturizer. This helps the product to sink in and settle in my skin. Application is the best when done with a brush. It does blend in perfectly after I use it with a moisturizer.
Maybelline has launched this product in five shades from light to medium skin tone. This is the one I use.
TIP: less is always better with BB creams.
Hope it was helpful.
